Encrypted photo vault and document storage for iPhone and Android

A quieter home for your photos, files, and personal moments. Encrypted on your device, before they ever reach the cloud.

Revault is an encrypted vault for your photos, videos and documents: everything is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before it is stored, and only your pattern or recovery key can unlock it.

PRIVACY, WITHOUT THE COMPLICATION

Keep life close.
Keep everything else out.

How it works

Your private spaces

Create separate encrypted spaces on your phone. Each pattern opens only its matching vault, without a Revault account or sign-up.

How it works

Folders

Organize files into folders inside an unlocked vault. Folder names and structure are encrypted on your device with the rest of the vault.

How it works

At home on your devices

Choose private iCloud or Google Drive sync, or Pro Revault Cloud for iPhone and Android together. Keep other vaults entirely local.

How it works

Export encrypted backup

Export a portable encrypted .qvault backup and keep its recovery key separately. Restore your files without a Revault account.

How it works

No mobile file-size cap

Import large photos, videos and documents without a mobile product file-size cap. Available device space and cloud-provider quotas still apply.

How it works

Settings for each vault

Choose sync, media optimization, activity logging and an inactivity timeout separately for each vault.

App features

Tools for everyday privacy.

Capture, organize and protect your files, with choices for each vault and practical ways to move between devices.

Secure sharing

Share encrypted files or a vault snapshot with a separate secret. Keep your personal vault keys private across iOS and Android.

Encrypted photo folders for iOS and Android

Organise photos, videos and documents in encrypted folders with automatic photo covers and one location per file.

Screenshot and recording protection

Share with capture safeguards: Android blocks screenshots and recording; iOS hides recordings and closes view-only shares after screenshots.

Private camera and file imports

Take photos and videos inside an unlocked vault, import selected items from Photos, or send files from another app’s share sheet.

Optional photo and video optimization

Make new photo and video imports smaller before encryption. Choose optimization settings separately for each vault.

Private search, tags and favourites

Find files inside an unlocked vault using names, tags and categories. Keep favourites close and organize files into encrypted folders.

Secure transfers between iPhone and Android

Move a vault to another phone with an encrypted transfer file and a separate transfer key, including when switching between iOS and Android.

Automatic vault locking

Lock immediately when the app goes into the background, with a configurable inactivity timeout that defaults to 60 seconds per vault.

Safe Exit for sensitive situations

Designate a vault whose pattern opens that space while removing other vaults’ local access and data from this device.

Optional encrypted vault activity logs

Review interactions with a vault on this device through an optional encrypted activity history, controlled separately for each vault.

Optional break-in photo alerts

Opt a vault into encrypted local photo alerts after repeated failed patterns. Review the evidence only after unlocking that vault.

App icons and a personal in-app name

Choose an available alternate icon and personalize the name shown inside Revault, using appearance options supported by your platform.

Remove metadata from photos, videos and PDFs

Remove hidden location, camera details and document properties on your phone. Choose an item or set a default for new vault imports.

A private photo editor inside your vault

Crop, adjust, blur, redact and annotate private photos on iPhone and Android. Edit inside your encrypted vault without sending images to an editing service.

A private video editor inside your vault

Trim videos, crop the frame, rotate, flip and remove audio on iPhone and Android. Preview and save privately without uploading a video to an editing service.

On-device encryption

Security, layer by layer.

Your vault pattern and recovery key have different jobs.

  1. Account-free mobile apps

The native apps do not require a Revault account, email address, password, or web sign-in. Vaults are created and encrypted on-device. Local vault use does not upload your files to Revault’s servers.

  2. Your vault. Your key.

Your device pattern combines with a random local secret to protect the vault key. A separate recovery key lets you enroll another device without syncing the pattern.

  3. Encrypted before upload

File contents, names and previews are encrypted on-device. Native cloud sync and encrypted sharing send ciphertext instead of your unlocked files.

Mobile vaults lock immediately when backgrounded and after 60 seconds of inactivity by default. Choose an inactivity timeout in each vault’s settings.Security model

What stays encrypted

Local vaults keep file contents, names and previews encrypted on your device. Enabling sync or sharing transfers encrypted copies, while unlocked previews remain temporary.

Folder names and structure are encrypted inside this vault.

What the service can see

Local vault use does not upload files to Revault. Optional native sync exposes operational metadata to Apple or Google. Controlled sharing sends encrypted copies and access metadata to Revault, without uploading the separate decryption secret.

Safe Exit, when you need it.

Open a designated vault while removing other vaults’ local access. Cloud copies stay intact; unsynced changes can be lost.

Revault is coming to iPhone, iPad and Android, with no Revault account to create. Keep vaults local, or turn on native cloud sync for the vaults you want on your other devices.

VAULT ESSENTIALS

Practical answers before you start.

Security & architecture
What happens if I lose my device?

Restore an encrypted backup, or connect a synced vault using the same native cloud account. Use its recovery key to enroll the new device and choose a new pattern.

A recovery key cannot replace missing files. Keep an encrypted backup and your recovery key separately before you need them.

What can I open offline?

Native vault files stored on your phone can be opened offline after unlocking. Download any cloud-only files before going offline.

Optional sync requires a connection to transfer changes. Your local pattern and unlock secret remain on the device.

Is a recovery key the same as a backup?

No. A recovery key unlocks a vault, but it does not contain your files. An encrypted cloud copy or a .qvault backup holds the files. Keep both, in different places.

A recovery kit contains the recovery secret and key wrappers, but it does not contain your files. You still need the encrypted cloud copy or a self-contained encrypted backup.

Encryption protects stored contents. Object counts, sizes, timestamps, and account associations remain visible. A compromised device or frontend can expose unlocked data. Revault is an independent project and has not undergone an independent security audit.
