Illustrative preview. Screens vary by platform. On iOS, swipe right from the left edge or tap Back to open the parent folder. Each gesture goes back one level and keeps layout and filters. The vault root stays open.
The next mobile update brings photos and other files together in Files. Create a folder from the plus menu, then open it to import files or move existing items into it. Folders with available photo thumbnails show a photo cover; other folders keep a folder icon. No account or cloud sync is required.
In the next iOS and Android update, folder navigation uses one title in the main header, with Back beside it. The duplicate folder title below the header is removed. Back opens the parent folder and keeps the current layout and filters.

Move files without duplicating them
Folders hold every supported file type. Each file has one location; moving it changes its folder without making another copy. Existing album locations appear as ordinary folders with their names, files and nested structure preserved. There is no separate Albums page.
Private photo covers
Folder names and file locations stay in encrypted metadata and follow optional vault sync and encrypted backups. Covers use available thumbnails from photos directly inside the folder; they are visible only while the vault is unlocked. Covers are automatic and cannot be selected manually. Folder names appear over their covers, with a folder icon when no photo thumbnail is available. The favourites star stays visible in the Files header. Open File view options for Grid view, List view and Exit vault at the root. Your layout choice is saved on this device for future opens.
Move contents or delete a folder
On iOS and Android, deleting a non-empty folder offers moving its contents to another folder or the vault root, or confirming deletion of the entire subtree. Moving preserves nested folders and file identities; conflicting folder names must be resolved first.
Upload progress
Files waiting for upload in a synced iOS or Android vault show a small circular indicator at the bottom left, with no filled background. Progress advances as encrypted segments are confirmed and disappears when the upload is committed. It can advance in steps and stay pending while offline or paused. Local-only vaults show no upload indicator.
How it works
Unlock the vault, open the plus menu and choose Create folder on iOS or New folder on Android.
Open the folder to import files directly into it, or use Move file in an existing item’s options.
Use the header controls to switch grid or list view and filter favourites inside the current folder.

Frequently asked questions
Can a file appear in more than one folder?
Folders hold every supported file type. Each file has one location; moving it changes its folder without making another copy. Existing album locations appear as ordinary folders with their names, files and nested structure preserved. There is no separate Albums page.
How does a folder get its photo cover?
Folder names and file locations stay in encrypted metadata and follow optional vault sync and encrypted backups. Covers use available thumbnails from photos directly inside the folder; they are visible only while the vault is unlocked. Covers are automatic and cannot be selected manually. Folder names appear over their covers, with a folder icon when no photo thumbnail is available. The favourites star stays visible in the Files header. Open File view options for Grid view, List view and Exit vault at the root. Your layout choice is saved on this device for future opens.
What happens to existing albums?
Existing album locations remain in the encrypted folder hierarchy. They appear in Files as ordinary folders, with the same names, file identities and nested structure. No files are copied or deleted by this navigation change.
Are photo folder covers in the current store version?
Photo covers and consolidated navigation are in development for iOS and Android; this does not establish current store availability. Folders do not reference your system photo library or put one file in several locations. A missing photo thumbnail leaves the standard folder icon.
