Using your vault

Browse private previews and edit on your device

Move between files without returning to the grid, and save photo or video edits inside the vault.

Move through the current collection

  1. Open a file from the grid or list. In a private preview on iPhone or iPad, swipe left for the next item or right for the previous one. Zoomed content keeps its own pan gestures; zoom out before changing files. Android and shared-vault previews also offer previous/next controls. Navigation stops at the ends of the collection.
  2. The carousel follows the folder, category, search or favourites view you opened it from and includes every file type. A format that cannot be displayed stays in its place with an explanation; exporting a decrypted copy, where allowed, is a separate action.
  3. Use the preview’s favourite, edit, encrypted-share and more actions for the file currently on screen. Only the current page and at most one adjacent preview are prepared. Finishing a page change releases the previous temporary file; cancelling a drag discards the incoming preview. Closing or locking releases both.
  4. In the next iOS and Android update, video tiles show a poster frame and duration in grid and list views, including inside folders. New imports and edited videos save these details encrypted with the file. Existing local videos are filled in one at a time on the current page, decrypting only the parts needed in memory without writing a decrypted copy to disk. Unavailable files or unsupported codecs keep their fallback icon.
  5. On iOS, photos use an image preview with pinch and double-tap zoom; zoom out to return to file swiping. Videos and audio use playback controls, PDFs scroll vertically, and text files up to 2 MB appear in a read-only text view. Image previews are scaled for display and GIF previews show the first frame. Larger text files and unsupported formats offer an explanation and an explicit decrypted export. Previewing does not change the encrypted original.

Confirm each photo operation

In the next iOS and Android update, photo and video editors use Save and offer Save, Discard edits or Keep editing when you leave with unsaved changes. Photo blur controls show Blur strength and Brush size. While typing, the keyboard covers the controls without shrinking the photo preview. Drag text directly to move it, rotate it with two fingers, or use its right-side remove button. Confirm keeps the current operation; Cancel restores its starting state. Save in the leave prompt confirms the visible operation before saving.

In the next iOS update, deleting a file from Files or its private preview opens a centered confirmation alert with Delete file and Cancel.

Choose Edit photo to open the dedicated editor. On Android, the editor appears immediately and the image fades in when ready; editing controls remain disabled until loading completes. Select an operation in the bottom strip, adjust its controls and use Confirm to keep that operation. The tool’s Cancel button cancels the current operation. Confirmed operations can be undone while editing; Save writes the encrypted replacement.

On iOS, camera HEIC, HDR and higher-bit-depth photos can be edited when the system can decode them. Saving creates a standard-range still PNG: HDR is tone-mapped, auxiliary depth and motion data are omitted, and animated images use their first frame. Android can still reject animated, HDR and unsupported inputs. A failed edit leaves the stored source unchanged.

Crop, rotate, flip, colour adjustments, drawing, text and brush blur work locally. Text is placed on the photo. Blur softens an area; use solid redaction for information that must be covered. Metadata removal is separate from hiding visible faces, text or landmarks.

Video edits and existing copies

The video editor supports trimming, framing, rotation, flipping and removing audio on supported inputs. Save only after checking the result. Earlier exports, backups, gallery originals and shared snapshots are independent copies and are not rewritten by an edit.

Unsupported formats remain available through an explicit decrypted export where allowed. A shared view-only vault may restrict export and does not provide the owner’s editing actions. Its expiry and capture protections continue to apply while browsing.
